Mission Statement: "The mission of Citizens for Brentwood Green Space is to support and stimulate community action to preserve open space in the city of Brentwood." |

News Release - March 13, 2007
The Brentwood 2020 Plan Update showed that residents ranked Growth Management as their number one priority. 81% of the survey respondents also thought that the Preservation of the City’s “Remaining Farms and Other Large Open Space Tracts” should be a “Mid to High Priority” for Brentwood. Eight candidates have qualified to run for four open positions for the Brentwood City Commission. Early voting for the May 1 election will run April 11-26th. In commenting on the Candidate’s Forum, Stephen Prince, founder of the CBGS, said, “Growth Management and Open Space Preservation rank among the most important issues facing Brentwood today. Everyone likes the rural feel of Brentwood and the open space, but how do you pay for it? There are many different and creative ways to preserve land without property tax increases. Franklin, for example, created a 200 acre passive park out of the Harlendale Farm with no increase in property taxes. Our members are Brentwood citizens that passionately care about preserving open space. We’ll be the only Candidate Forum focused solely on Growth Management and Open Space Preservation. It’s clear that the time has come for an aggressive plan for preservation and our members are going to be very interested in hearing what the candidates will have to say on these important issues.” The Citizens for Brentwood Green Space, Inc. is a volunteer
citizens group organized as a nonprofit corporation. Our mission is
to preserve open space in the form of parks, trails, historic sites,
and flood plains while being sensitive to the rights of landowners
and developers. More information can be found on our web site
